Why correct coding is important?
When putting together the medical billing and coding seminar we presented information so that those experienced and new to coding would get valuable information. Our goal is to keep optometrists from over coding visits and having to pay back money at an audit and to make sure they aren't under coding either and leaving money on the table. Dr Gibson explains the 99000 E&M codes and how to determine which level of code to file based on the amount of work you did on the case the medical difficulty. He also covered the 92000 codes and hopefully help optometrists know when to best use which code an what to do to make sure we meet the sometimes confusing regulations on the CPT codes. Lastly, covered some of the special tests and when they are appropriate and how they should be documented.
At the end of the day coding correctly will save you time, money and impact on your bottom line.
