About David R. Gibson, O.D., F.A.A.O
Casa Vision Guest Speaker (Medical Billing)
Dr. David Gibson has been practicing optometry in the U.S. for more than 25 years. He also specializes in providing Medical billing advice to fellow optometrists. As a consulting editor for Optometry Coding and Billing Alert, he regularly reviews material and contributes an advice column to the magazine.
Dr. Gibson practices in a group practice and is certified as an "Optometric Glaucoma Specialist" by the Texas Optometry Board. He is also a partner with several other O.D.'s and M.D.'s in a local laser center. Dr. Gibson believes that optometrists need to fully understand the medical billing process in order to maximize their professional abilities and revenues.
Via his presentations, Dr. Gibson hopes to help Doctors to understand how to:
- Be paid for procedures that they are already conducting
- Recognize and complete partial procedures that should be billed separately
- Provide better service to their patients as part of proper coding
Dr Gibson graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry with a Bachelor of Science (1975) and a Doctor of Optometry (1977). He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association and the South Plains Optometric Association. He is a past President of the South Plains Optometric Association and is a clinical examiner for the National Board of Optometry.
